Bristol Palin has an opinion on Obama’s same sex marriage endorsement
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Even Bristol Palin. The question is, does Bristol Palin’s opinion deserve to carry such weight that it gets an entire article write up on USA Today?
Apparently Ms. Palin, a single mother, dared to comment that children do better with a mother and a father–not that they do better with two parents regardless of the gender of the parent, but that they do better with two parents where one is male and the other female. Seems she made the comment in reference to President Obama’s endorsement of same sex marriage and at least a few people are up in arms, including Jenni “JWOWW” Farley from Jersey Shore who tweeted:
“Bristol should keep her uneducated ignorant mouth shut. If Ur living in the past u wouldn’t have a kid w/out marriage (hash) hypocrite. It’s 2012!” (source)
Like I said, Bristol is entitled to her opinion. She’s not alone in thinking that having both a mother and a father is the best case scenario for a child, but perhaps she could look at her own situation as the perfect example that “best case scenario” doesn’t always happen, and what’s best children at the end of the day is to have people around them who love and nurture them regardless if it’s a young mother who had her child when she was only 17 and considered too young by society to have or raise a child, or two moms, or two dads or whatever. So many people grow up in “best case scenario” environments who were not loved or nurtured by one or at times even both parents, and who were raised poorly so let’s toss out the antiquated rule book because it simply does not apply in our current society.
